Calliope Muse
What is delighting while studying
Multimedia Technology & Design in Brunel University
is the ability to combine creativity - which is a vital way of self-expression and communication - with technical knowledge; that I see as the fuel of the first…the knowledge to implement, explore and realize ideas and a way to give & receive help…sharing is the passé-partout to me!
Calliope Muse started off as a connotation to my username “calliope8muse” I have been using for the past years and then developed as a character for the purpose of this portfolio website.
Historically speaking Calliope was the Muse of Poetry that Homer called up for inspiration…and inspiration is what I have drawn upon to create this space!
A frame of surreal, inspiring images & illustrations are colorfully popping out of gray tapestry patterned wallpaper to create a “home” feeling.
I tried to follow a minimalist approach with a minimum addition of an atypical navigation layout inspired by .net magazine & Design Melt Down ; just to promote usability. Otherwise content is purposefully loosely structured to promote exploration and sense of experience for the user.
Development-wise, I have been very keen on W3C accessibility & compliance standards, which is personal approach and belief, but code inspiration and technique comes from Transcending CSS by Andy Clarke, A list apart online magazine, 24 ways & of course the original version of lightbox!
I do prefer to design for contemporary browsers like Firefox, Safari & Opera; hence this website will not work properly on Internet Explorer as you might experience already!
I strongly believe in open source community & sharing knowledge online; consequently this website is published under Creative Commons License as you can see…
Well...enjoy!
